How We Do It... Now
It's all digital now. No more clay, wax, silicone or urethane. Here at Sculpt-O-Rama we now
use the state of the art digital sculpting platform FreeForm Modeling to sculpt your
prototype.
Unlike mesh-based software, FreeForm's voxels (digital clay) and haptic interface allow a
truly organic workflow, while still having all the digital benefits. And unlike other digital
sculpting platforms, FreeForm was developed to create real objects ready for
manufacture.
This means that we can take care of your manufacturing concerns such as scaling, wall-
thickness, parting lines and draft, center of gravity and more. And we can do it now with
a greater degree of accuracy than we ever could with traditional sculpting. You won't have
to take our model into another software just to get it made. What we give to you will be
ready for Rapid Prototyping.
Sculpt-O-Rama does not do the Rapid Prototyping- we leave that to the experts in that field.
If your company does not have RP capabilities, we will happily recommend quality vendors,
as well as work with them to prepare your project for the highest quality outcome.
We can also provide you with 3D viewable files at any step along the way that you will be
able to view on any Mac or PC. You will be able to review your project from any angle and share it with your team and licensors.
Quality has always been our top concern. When your products look good and sell well, we look good. We have committed to digital sculpting using FreeForm not just because it is the future of toy sculpting with substantial enhancements to the design-to-manufacture workflow. It's simply a better way of sculpting.
Sculpt-O-Rama is the latest incarnation of the venerable The Catherine Kayser Co., Inc. (aka Kayser & Co., aka Kayser Studios), founded 1993. The CK Co., Inc. was for many years a a traditional (clay & wax) toy sculpting studio, providing high quality mold
a making, casting and painting services as well. When our eponymous
f founder extraordinaire retired from the sculpting business in 2007, N Nathan Michael, partner in and General Manager of the The CK Co., Inc.
f from its inception, took the helm.
Sculpt-O-Rama is the embodiment of that great institutional knowledge of the industry and a history of traditional sculpting moving with full force into the
future. The new medium of digital sculpting provides us the joyful
opportunity to continue providing our clientele with the cutest of
creatures, as we always have.
